The former Swedish number one had big shoes to fill in the form of greats and fellow countrymen Bjorn Borg, Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg. He more than delivered on early expectation and his career highlights include reaching the final of the Australian Open in 1999, where he was runner-up to Yevgeny Kafelnikov and a quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon in 2001. Enqvist won a total of 19 ATP singles titles between 1992 and 2002 and in this time he finished the year in the world’s top ten on four separate occasions, reaching a career high ranking of 4 in 1999.
