Celebrity Masterchef Semi-Finalist Henri Leconte return

1984 Roland-Garros Doubles champion and current Celebrity MasterChef semi-finalist Henri Leconte will be returning to this year’s Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall, taking place from Thursday 30th November – Sunday 3rd December 2017. He joins two-time US Open winner Pat Rafter, British fan favourite Tim Henman, French Open winner Juan Carlos Ferrero and former World No.1 Marat Safin, with further players to be announced in due course.

Leconte, who is currently showcasing his cookery skills on BBC show Celebrity MasterChef, first caught the attention of the tennis world after he won the junior Roland-Garros title in 1980; the same year he turned professional. His highlights include a singles career high ranking of World No.5, reaching the 1988 Roland-Garros final and winning the 1984 Roland-Garros Doubles Championship with partner Yannick Noah. In 1991, Leconte was also involved in the historic Davis Cup win for France, a win which came 59 years after France last won the title. A crowd favourite and entertainer, he has won nine singles and ten doubles titles throughout his professional career.

Leconte commented: ‘It’s an honour to return for this year’s Champions Tennis, especially as there’s always something so special about playing in the Royal Albert Hall. I definitely feel less pressure on the court compared to competing on MasterChef.’

Owned and managed by IMG, this year’s Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall marks 21 years of the event. It runs over the course of four days, with a day and evening session each day.
